Throughthis program, every customer can feel this commitment when choosing ourproducts.
The following criteria and rating levels help you better understand theenvironmental benefits of GIORMANI sofas.
Every GIORMANI sofa you purchase is a concrete step towards sustainableconsumption.

1. FSC-certifiedsustainable wood : SinceOctober 2025, all GIORMANI recliner sofas have been made with FSC 100%certified wood (Certificate no.: FSC-C210897). This timber comes exclusivelyfrom sustainably managed FSC-certified forests, ensuring traceable,well-regulated sources that protect forest health and biodiversity whilebalancing environmental, social, and economic interests.
2. LWG-certifiedleather : Fromthe end of December 2025, all GIORMANI leather leather will be sourced fromLeather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries that comply with EUenvironmental and safety standards. LWG certification focuses on reducingpollution, improving energy efficiency, and safeguarding the rights andwellbeing of workers and customers to drive sustainable development in theleather industry.。
3. Fabrictested for safety and performance : GIORMANIsofa fabrics undergo 23 rigorous tests, including water repellence, stainresistance, five colour fastness tests, tensile strength, abrasion and scratchresistance, dimensional stability after washing, anti-static performance, andchecks for formaldehyde and other harmful substances, as well as safe pHlevels. All tests are conducted by internationally recognized organizations –SGS, Intertek and STC (Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre) – to ensuredurability and safety, support long-term use, enhance customer confidence, andhelp reduce waste.
4. Additive-freepure PU foam : GIORMANIrequires suppliers to use polyurethane foam without added lime powder (pure PUfoam), made primarily from a single PU material with no mixed non‑PU substancesor extra chemical additives. Pure PU foam offers excellent resilience, a widerange of densities and firmness options, and high durability, helping to reducechemical irritation and environmental impact, and supporting long-lasting sofause with less future waste.

5. All-paperpackaging: Startingfrom October 2025, all individually packed cushions delivered to customers arepackaged in paper, and from 2026 onwards, all headrests will also switch fullyto paper-based packaging. All GIORMANI packaging materials are paper-based,free from plastic and metal, and can be replenished at a rate equal to orfaster than their consumption, supporting sustainable resource use. Comparedwith non-renewable plastics and metals, paper in Hong Kong is easier torecycle, helping to reduce the use of virgin resources and increasecircularity.
6. Sofa outer packaging contains recycled materials: Theouter packaging of the sofas contains at least 20% recycled materials byweight. Using recycled materials means that portion of the packaging does notconsume any virgin resources, preserving valuable raw materials for futuregenerations. Currently, GIORMANI’s packaging materials include: packaging filmmade from 100% recycled material; other outer packaging components made with20% or more recycled content bubble bags 80%, laminated EPE 20%, EPE sheets20%, EPE strips 20%, and cartons/paper edge protectors 90%, while air columncushions do not yet contain recycled material.

7. Ultra-lowformaldehyde sofas: Thematerials used in GIORMANI sofas release extremely low levels of formaldehydeduring production and use, with almost all formaldehyde coming from plywoodcomponents. Reputable testing centers have confirmed compliance with both EUand China E1 standards (≤0.0124 mg/m³), meeting strict health and safetyrequirements and making them suitable for families with sensitive users and child.
8. Ultra-lowVOC emissions from the factory: Since2024, GIORMANI has gradually switched more than 90% of the glue used for sofaframes and internal materials to water-based adhesives, significantly reducing VOCemissions and protecting the health of workers, customers, and indoorenvironments. In 2025, accredited local authorities measured VOC concentrationsin the factory air at below 2.00 mg/Nm³, far lower than the regulatory limit of30.00 mg/Nm³, demonstrating robust environmental and safety standards.
9. Ultra-lowgreenhouse gas emissions from the factory: In2024, GIORMANI’s factory reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 123.15 tonscompared with 2023, bringing total emissions down to 446.41 tons andsubstantially lowering its climate impact. On average, producing onethree-seater sofa results in only about 24 kg of greenhouse gas emissions, roughly one‑twentieth of the emissions from a round‑trip economy flight betweenHong Kong and Tokyo for one passenger (about 470 kg).

10. Fullyremovable washable covers: Thefabric covers can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement, helping toeliminate deep-seated dirt, bacteria and microbes, reduce mould and odors, andextend the life of the furniture while maintaining hygiene. This alsoeffectively lowers exposure to allergens such as dust mites, pollen and pethair, which is especially beneficial for people with asthma or allergies, andspot cleaning of severely soiled areas further improves repairability, extendsproduct life and supports circular use.
11. Removableback and seat cushions: Whencushions become worn or damaged, individual parts can be replaced withoutchanging the entire sofa, which prolongs the service life of the sofa andreduces the number of sofas that need to be discarded in future. This designsignificantly increases the potential for the sofa to be repaired, upgraded andkept in circulation.
12.Fully knock-down outer frame: The fully demountable outer frame designmakes repairs and component replacement easier, allowing undamaged parts to bereused and reducing waste and premature scraping of the whole sofa.Flat-packed, modular components save space in transport, lowertransport-related greenhouse gas emissions, and support resource circulation, greatly enhancing the circularity and long-term sustainability of thefurniture.

13. Premiumrecycled polyester in lining fabric: Thelining fabric in GIORMANI sofas contains 95% recycled polyester fibres (fromrecovered plastic bottles, garments, etc.) and 5% virgin cotton, and iscertified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). This reduces waste pollution, recirculates plastic resources, and uses less energy and emits fewer emissionsthan conventional production, supporting sustainable development.
14. High-performancefoam with recycled content: Off-cutsof brand‑new foam generated during production are 100% reused to create high‑performancefoam (density ~100 kg/m³) for selected sofa models. This foam offers strongersupport and greater durability than foam of the same type made entirely fromnew raw material, while reducing the consumption of new resources so thatfuture generations can continue to benefit.
15. Premiumrecycled yarns in outer fabric: GIORMANIfabric series S22417A uses a 100% recycled outer fabric containing recycledpolyester fibres and certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), whoseminimum threshold requires at least 20% recycled materials in the fabric. GRScertification verifies the authenticity and traceability of recycled materialsand ensures the production process meets environmental and socialresponsibility requirements, reducing resource use, promoting circularity, andoffering customers a truly sustainable choice.

16. Eligible sofas donated or rehomed after refurbishment: Launched in June2024 as the first initiative of its kind in the industry led proactively by asofa brand, the program collects and refurbishes used sofas, and by October2025 had already donated or transferred 28 pieces to 16 organizations. The programreduces waste at source, extends sofa lifespans, and supports environmentalprotection and sustainable development by finding a “second home” forcustomers’ old sofas. Sofas that meet this criterion have a much higher chanceof being recovered and reused in future, significantly cutting the volume offurniture sent to landfills.

GIORMANI’s factory holds both environmentaland quality management certifications, enabling more systematic and continuouscontrol of key environmental-benefit initiatives. This ensures every sofa reliablymeets its defined environmental benefit criteria and delivers consistent, sustainable quality.
